Director Biography – Z. Joseph Guice
Z. Joseph Guice grew up in a rural area of North Carolina. His parents routinely took him to the movies. And, for that, he’s eternally grateful. Seeing Star Wars in ’77 would change his life.
A terribly awkward kid, a teacher persuaded Joe to pursue acting after watching him perform an assignment in class. Acting would help him confront his shyness and put him on the path to filmmaking… where he fell in love with the craft and became consumed by it all.
After more than 15 years of living and working in New York City, Joe recently relocated back to a rural area trading skyscrapers for trees. And he doesn’t mind at all.
If not busy on a project or traveling, Joe is probably watching a movie. Or writing one.
Director Statement
The Butterfly is for the mothers in our lives. Biological or not. Those strong individuals who push us to be… who we need (and deserve) to be.
