Directed by Isabelle Platt
Maya’s a timid young woman who’s in a codependent relationship with her nervous older sister, Alex. When their newly sober dad comes to visit them in NYC, he expresses concern for the girls because neither has ever had a romantic relationship. Indignant, Maya sets out on a mission to fall in love to prove him wrong. As she attempts to pursue her crush who frequents the bakery she works at, she’s met by her paralyzing internalized homophobia, the discovery of her sister’s secret boyfriend, her dad’s fragile sobriety, and her inability to feel anything other than anger.
