LGBT Best Scene Screenplay Reading: The Pardon, by Anthony Maddalena

When lonely widower Nigel learns of the government’s pardoning of his former dead lover Freddie of the crime of homosexuality he is haunted by memories of his tragic love affair more than fifty years earlier. In two parallel “now and then” stories the young men’s initially hedonistic love affair unfolds leading to an unprecedented awakening of the younger Nigel’s heart. But when Freddie is sent to prison Nigel’s world is shaken to the core. Now as an old man, held hostage by the relentless power of his memory, Nigel must make one final journey in order to finally bury the ghosts of the past.
