LGBT Short Film Festival – Thur. June 22, 2017

Our home is The Carlton Cinemas, located in the heart of downtown Toronto at 20 Carlton Street. The event runs from 7pm to 9:10pm.

Continuing to showcase the best of short films from around the world, while maintaining our audience feedback format moderated by Kierston Drier. Showcasing a festival twice a month in Toronto in 2017!

Tickets for 2017 are PAY WHAT YOU LIKE. Purchase your tickets online via Paypal or Credit Card. Tickets are first come first serve.

All proceeds to this month’s festival will be donated to festival cinema costs (suggestion $8 and up), which helps the monthly event:


OR, if you like to obtain seats in advance and pick them up on the day of the event (come for FREE, or make a donation), please email us atfestivalevent@wildsoundfestival.com and we’ll reserve seats for you.

You can pick up the tickets on the day of the event at the cinema. Tickets are first come, first serve. This festival has sold out 58 out of its last 60 events!

You will be able to buy alcohol (beer, wine, liquor), popcorn, candy, and refreshments before the show.

FIRST ACT PROGRAM


THE 3RD TRY, 5min, USA, LGBT, Drama
Directed by Alfonso Rodriguez

An emotionally unstable lesbian couple tries to find solace after experiencing a traumatic loss.

DEVIL WEARS A SUIT, 20min, Australia, LGBT, Sci-Fi
Directed by Eli Mak

A high-concept drama/scifi about a Jewish boy who must decide whether to ‘cure’ his homosexuality with an injection or be ostracised from his community forever.

Gay best friends, Tommy and Wesley, unwittingly venture to an intimidating party hosted by the gay elite.

SECOND ACT PROGRAM


WAJOOD (SELFHOOD), 13min, India, LGBT, Romance
Directed by Vishal Srivastava

Revolves around a young hijra’s (trans-woman) life, who seems to fancy herself with an auto-rickshaw driver. When confronted by the elders of her community about her unrealistic expectations, she goes on a quest to know if somebody will ever fall in love with her or is this thought as naive as told by everyone around her?

SHAPING SCARS, 7min, UK, LGBT, Dance
Directed by Zsolti Szabo

A dance journey about two girls who once loved each other, but while one is able to embrace herself openly (and therefore their relationship), the other is struggling to step into the light and shake off her demons.

Directed by Erez Eisenstein

Relying on “How To Be Alone” – a self-improvment audio book – a heartbroken woman, struggling with her lonesome existence, decides to embrace solitude and to learn how to survive without love.
