A secret world of magic exists in today’s America. Each magical person has a special ability, and Reapers are rare ones with the ability to destroy souls. The only Reaper in America is Chicago’s very own mob boss, but when he’s murdered, his power passes to Silvia, a rebellious college freshman reveling in her freedom from foster care. Discovering magic seems like fun to her — until she lands herself and her over-protective brother in the middle of Chicago’s magical mob war.
